Digital platform to support Cheshire and Merseyside’s Covid-19 response gets shortlisted for a HSJ Award

24 August 2021

The CIPHA (Combined Intelligence for Population Health Action) programme, implemented by the Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership has been shortlisted for the Connecting Services and Information Award at the HSJ Awards 2021.

The CIPHA programme uses Graphnet’s population health management platform to inform the region’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Established within three months, the system ensures a steady flow of securely stored real-time data feeds from all local NHS and social care providers and national data sets to deliver consistent, coherent and actionable dashboards across Cheshire and Merseyside.

To date, the data sharing has supported; the Liverpool mass testing pilot that informed UK Government policy, the #LetsGetVaccinated campaign, which helped to improve vaccine uptake within the region’s Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, and the National Events Research Programme in building a Covid safety-net to allow events to reopen.

Moving forward, the platform will continue to be instrumental in driving Cheshire and Merseyside’s recovery from the pandemic, through informing population level planning and the targeting of direct care interventions.

Jim Hughes, senior responsible officer for CIPHA commented:

The programme team and I are thrilled that CIPHA has been shortlisted.

Being nominated is a testament firstly to the collaborative efforts and dedication of all those who have worked so hard to support the delivery of CIPHA. And secondly, to everything the programme has managed to accomplish already within such a short period of time, to enhance patient and citizen safety.

The selected winners will be announced during the awards ceremony in London, on 18 November 2021.
