As winter approaches, the subject of fuel poverty rises to the top of the agenda once more. According to the Government’s 2022 annual fuel poverty statistics[1], there were an estimated 13.4% of households (3.26 million) in fuel poverty in England under the Low-Income Low Energy Efficiency (LILEE) metric.  

Fuel poverty can exacerbate symptoms for those with long-term health conditions such as cardiovascular and respiratory disease, mental health issues or a disability. Using population health management tools, the health community is equipped with the data to identify those who are most severely affected to support people to achieve better health outcomes. 

We are hosting a webinar focussing on fuel poverty on 12th October between 10 and 11am. Delegates will hear from Sarah Sibley, Respiratory Consultant at Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital about how Cheshire and Merseyside ICB has created a fuel poverty dashboard in their Graphnet hosted population analytics platform, CIPHA. The dashboard analyses GP data, deprivation, Johns Hopkins risk of admission prediction scores and fuel poverty data profiles, to identify patients with chronic respiratory disease and asthma who may deteriorate because of fuel poverty.
