Giving Tablets a Second Life: Supporting YMCA Milton Keynes and Our Community

18 December 2025

We’re proud to share how a simple act of donating used tablets, can make a meaningful difference for people and the planet. By passing on brand-new and pre-loved devices to YMCA Milton Keynes, we’re hoping to reduce electronic waste sent to landfill while directly supporting a charity that does incredible work with young people and the local community.

For the young people YMCA MK supports, access to technology can be transformative. Donated tablets can be used for learning, job searching, staying connected, and developing digital skills—practical tools that build confidence and open doors to opportunity.

Jamie Rigby, Graphnet Technical Services Manager, summed up the motivation behind the donation perfectly:

“Rather than sentencing practically new equipment to landfill, we were delighted to connect with YMCA MK and provide them with computer tablets to benefit the people within their service, local to our offices in Milton Keynes. Sadly, we live in a single-use society and often overlook how we can help others, sometimes with perfectly usable equipment that, while no longer suitable for use in healthcare settings, can still make a real difference elsewhere."

The impact of this donation is already being felt at YMCA Milton Keynes. Tayler Tookey, Head of Youth and Community, YMCA Milton Keynes & Northamptonshire shared:

“We are incredibly grateful to Graphnet for their generous donation of tablets, which will make a real difference for both our residents and volunteers. We work hard to strengthen our presence within the community, and Graphnet’s recognition of us as a charity is greatly appreciated. As our local presence continues to grow, partnerships like this help us extend our reach and impact.”
