Bolton project to digitally access GP correspondence is shortlisted for innovation award

07 February 2022

A Bolton Care Partnership project to enable GPs to digitally share their clinical documents with the care community has been nominated for the iNetwork Innovation Awards.

Since 2014, the Awards have successfully cast a light on projects and teams that have delivered transformation and excellence in public service delivery.

The project has been recognised in the Effective Information Sharing and Security category for using Docman Share by Advanced to allow GP practices to choose which clinical letters they wish to share with health and social care professionals, such as social care, mental health, acute and community trusts, across Bolton and the wider Greater Manchester region through the Greater Manchester Care Record (GMCR).

Powered by Graphnet, the GMCR is one of the UK’s largest digital integrated records, amalgamating essential information for 2.8 million citizens across the region’s 10 localities. Bolton is the first in the country to use the functionality from Advanced and it is now being rolled out across Greater Manchester.

Direct access to GP correspondence means care professionals no longer need to phone, fax or email GP practices to access this information. This results in faster decision-making, time savings on both sides and releases time to care.

Public voting for the Awards will take place between 7-18 February, followed by a judging process and finalists will be invited to the Awards ceremony on Thursday 19 May 2002.
